Runaway the Label’s existing website was built on Shopify’s Liquid theme, which posed limitations in scalability, SEO optimisation, and customisation. The rigid structure restricted the brand’s ability to create dynamic content, optimise for search engines, and offer a seamless shopping experience across international markets.

To support international growth, the brand needed a future-proof solution that would enhance site performance, streamline content management, and provide a more flexible framework for e-commerce operations. This would allow them to maintain a visually polished and high-performing site while improving customer engagement and conversion rates.

Solutions

We transitioned their website into a headless architecture, combining Shopify for core e-commerce functionalities with Sanity as a headless CMS for greater content flexibility. Using Next.js as the front-end framework, we integrated these platforms via APIs to ensure fast-loading pages, improved SEO, and a seamless user experience. Additionally, we restructured the site to a single domain with region-specific subfolders to enhance global SEO and streamline operations.

On the design front, we created a custom design system to ensure brand consistency and a polished e-commerce experience. Key improvements included a new mega navigation menu for seamless browsing, a dynamic product gallery, a region switcher and a size guide with a CM/Inches toggle for localised shopping.

The results

By implementing a headless commerce solution, we significantly improved the website performance, SEO, and user experience. The optimised site architecture supports organic growth, while the refined UI and improved navigation contribute to a higher conversion rate. With a scalable and flexible foundation, Runaway the Label is now better equipped to expand its global presence and deliver an enhanced shopping experience to its customers.
